North Coast Emergency is a North Coast-based group of Emergency Medicine Clinicians in KwaZulu-Natal with over 25 years of emergency medicine experience. We are active in three hospitals in the KwaZulu-Natal region, including Netcare Alberlito in Ballito and The Bay Hospital in Richards Bay.
Meet the Team
Dr Nick Raymond
Dr Nick Raymond is a general practitioner with a keen interest in Emergency Medicine based on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. He grew up in Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape and completed his medical degree (MBChB) at Stellenbosch University. After completing his studies, he did his Internship at Ngwelezane Tertiary Hospital near Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal. During his internship, he became passionate about emergency medicine and acquired a calm and collected skillset. Dr Raymond then worked for a private emergency medicine company in Durban for four years, where he later became a Clinical Manager in a large casualty ward.
During these years, Dr Raymond furthered his studies and obtained certificates, including a Diploma in Primary Emergency Care (SA) and Level 1 Primary Emergency Ultrasound. He has also done courses in advanced cardiac, paediatric, and trauma life support. Dr Nick Raymond strives to empower his patients in their decision-making process.
He is an outdoor person and leads an active lifestyle. When he is not in the hospital, Dr Raymond is either running on trails, mountain biking, surfing or spending time with his family.
Dr Duduzile Ndlovu
Dr Duduzile Ndlovu is a General Practitioner with vast experience and courses in Emergency Medicine based on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. She was born in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal and qualified as a Medical Doctor in 2005 from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. In 2009, she completed her Internship and Community Service at RK Khan and Wentworth Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal, where she was exposed to all medical disciplines. Following this, in 2009, she worked as an Emergency Medical Officer in Addington, Northdale and Edendale Hospital.
In 2012, Dr Ndlovu obtained her Diploma in Primary Emergency Care (Dip PEC) from the Colleges of Emergency Medicine of South Africa. In 2014, she worked At Anne's, Mediclinic and Life Hilton Hospital as a Clinical Manager in the Emergency Units. She later worked as a Sessional Senior Medical Officer for private hospitals and at a PHC/ARV government clinic, initiating ART therapy and managing chronic conditions.
Dr Ndlovu has also worked as Locum Medical Officer at Netcare Emergency Departments under ER consulting at Alberlito, Umhlanga and Netcare the Bay Hospital. Currently, she works as a Clinical Manager at North Coast Emergency Group. Dr Ndlovu is passionate about Emergency Medicine and is currently aligned with AHA (American Heart Association) entity as an instructor in Emergency Courses. She enjoys teaching and learning more about emergency medical conditions and trauma, which helps her update AHA-aligned updates.
Dr Thulani Gumede
Dr Thulani Gumede is a General Practitioner dedicated to Emergency Medicine. He grew up in eNyoni Village, in KwaZulu-Natal. In 2010, he obtained his medical degree (MBChB) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He then completed his Internship and Community Service at General Justice Gizenga Mpanza Regional Hospital (formerly known as Stanger Hospital) in KZN. In 2014, Dr Gumede started working in the Emergency Medicine Department, where he developed skills in working with patients in an acute/emergency setting.
Dr Gumede has done short Emergency Care courses, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), as well as Level 1 Emergency Ultrasound. He has obtained other qualifications, including a Diploma in HIV Management and a Diploma in Primary Emergency Care.
Dr Thulani Gumede is passionate about medicine and is looking forward to learning more and growing in his medical career. He has a keen interest in leadership and rural economic development. He strives to influence and economically empower rural communities positively. Dr Gumede works tirelessly to establish and develop systems that will help improve health and economic equality.
