Upon arrival, our emergency medicine physicians will evaluate the patient to determine the level of care needed and a suitable treatment plan. If the patient's condition requires urgent care, the patient will be admitted to one of the treatment rooms in the emergency care unit. The emergency care unit doesn't operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Patients are attended to according to the severity of their medical conditions. Therefore, critically ill patients are always attended to first.
Depending on the condition, an intravenous (IV) line will be inserted into the arm to allow the physicians to administer medications or fluids. Blood and urine samples may be taken for further diagnosis. The patient may be kept for observation overnight. If the patient gets worse, admission to the hospital may be required for further evaluation and treatment.
